Marcello Maloberti is reviving his half moon at the “corpo.gesto.postura” exhibition
What Marcello Maloberti is reactivating at “corpo.gesto.postura” (body.gesture.posture), an exhibition curated by Simone Menegoi within the framework of Artissima (4-6 November 2016), is in fact a fragment of "I baci più dolci del vino" (“Kisses sweeter than wine”), an artwork he created in Trivero in 2013 for Fondazione Zegna’s ALL'APERTO public art project.
Back then, the artist took his do-it-yourself paper/wood moon round the town of Trivero (Biella) followed by a procession of primary school children and their teachers. The activity was in preparation for a large scale collective performance orchestrated by Maloberti for the opening of his "Giardino delle Delizie" (Garden of Delights) for the community, a permanent installation topped by a big neon moon that every evening wishes Trivero’s townsfolk goodnight.
In Turin, Maloberti is now reviving his half moon in the form of a mirror-like metal and methacrylate sculpture mounted on top of a long pole held up by a young performer who “walks” it around amidst the visitors to Artissima. Like a small apparition.
