New opportunities for girls at San Patrignano

Thanks to funding from Camera della Moda and The Circle Italia Onlus, the textiles workshop at Patrignano is stepping up its professional training with new courses and an employment contract within its community.

A garment maker course and a fixed-term employment contract for a girl who has completed her rehabilitation and decided to stay on in the community and work: these are the two new opportunities at the San Patrignano textiles workshop and training unit on offer thanks to funding from Camera della Moda and The Circle Italia Onlus.

The garment maker course (regional professional qualification) will enable 10-15 girls to acquire new skills and knowledge to follow up their day-to-day work in the textiles workshop. The fixed-term contract will be an opportunity for a young woman who has completed her rehabilitation in the community to stay on and work in the textiles department as a mentor to other young women in both professional and social spheres.

The textiles workshop enables girls doing rehab at San Patrignano to learn to weave using old craft techniques and quality materials. Supported by Fondazione Zegna for five years now, the workshop has 40 girls working everyday on traditional looms to create products for the outside world and, above all, to grow themselves and reintegrate.
