The competition’s prize giving event at “Palazzo Trinci” in Foligno on 21 October
To acclaim the best architectural recovery project in terms of environmental respect and harmony was the objective of “La Fabbrica nel paesaggio” (The Factory in the landscape), an international competition promoted by UNESCO Clubs and funded by the European Landscape Observatory and the Italian Culture and Tourism Ministry). This was the 8th edition of the competition.
The award ceremony was held at Palazzo Trinci in Foligno on 21 October. The prize went to Baunei, a township on the central east coast of Sardinia, for its “Pastoral civilization” project. The five finalists also included Podere Case Lovara, an old farming settlement in Liguria where Fai - Fondo Ambiente Italiano in collaboration with Fondazione Zegna launched a project in 2015 to reclaim the landscape and restore the buildings.
In June 2016, following completion of the first phase of the project (restoring the area’s original agricultural function), this Fai property at Punta Mesco, in the wonderful landscape of the Parco delle Cinque Terre overlooking the Ligurian Sea, was reopened to the public.
