Easter Monday: the Botanical Treasure Hunt is back!
Pure water, fresh air and an uncontaminated natural scenario: the “Santuario della Brughiera” is a spiritual place in which to “free oneself of the artificial and return to the ingenuous, the primitive”. In the heart of Oasi Zegna, the “Santuario della Brughiera” (lit. Sanctuary on the Heath) is an amazing place, surrounded by woods and meadows stretching away to the plains below, beyond which the Ligurian Apennines can be glimpsed on a really clear day.
The atmosphere and peace give a mystical feel to the Sanctuary, which has been conserved over the centuries and recently restored thanks to funding from Fondazione Zegna and other donors. Located on an old transhumance route, the Sanctuary comprises two religious buildings.
According to tradition, the older of the two was built in the 16th century following a miraculous event: the healing of a shepherd girl, deaf-mute from birth, who regained speech and hearing. Inside this church there is a wooden statue known as the "Madonna della Brughiera" (Virgin of the Heath).
The other, larger church was built in the 17th century and is an elegant example of Piedmontese baroque. Here, where spirituality, art and nature blend, time seems to slow down: the colors, sounds and scents of spring transport us back to infancy and the wonder and pleasure of discovery.
A good opportunity to visit this special place is on Easter Monday (17 April), when a Botanical Treasure Hunt is being organized in collaboration with Grandi Giardini Italiani: an event for all the family and for kids between 6 and 11 in particular, who will be able to discover the marvels of nature in activities specially designed for them.
A special day for savoring nature and the excellences of the territory in a place that time has handed down to us intact.
