Bielmonte: the mountain that wasn’t there. The story of a winter resort.

Dal 5 dicembre 2010 al 27 febbraio 2011

In the 1940s, the Biella industrialist Ermenegildo Zegna launched a project to develop the mountain landscape around Trivero by means of a large scale forestation plan and the construction of the Panoramic road. His wide-reaching philanthropic vision is explored in an exhibition entitledBielmonte: the mountain that wasn’t there. Storia di una località invernale”,featuring a chronologically arranged selection of previously unseen documentation including technical plans, models, images, advertising, videos and testimonies of famous sporting events such as those associated with the Valanga Azzurra in 1976 and 1977, and the KL (chilometro lanciato) competitions in 1998 and 1999. Today Bielmonte is at the heart of the Oasi Zegna, having a ski facility with 20 km of downhill slopes, 20 km of cross country trails and fresh snow slopes and a 50 km network of snowshoe routes. In line with Ermenegildo Zegna’s “green philosophy” and the values of the Oasi Zegna project, Bielmonte offers initiatives throughout the year combining education, sport and outdoor activities that fully respect ecosystems and are specially geared to raising awareness amongst the young.
