On Sunday 7 June, following the big success of the preview for the public in Piemonte on 2 June on the occasion of the Festa della Repubblica and “Bentornata Italia” (Welcome back Italy), a nation-wide initiative by FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano, Casa Zegna is re-opening – in conditions of full safety and for the entire nation – with a new version of its “From sheep to shop” exhibition and a background exhibition entitled “Dai Boschi di Ermenegildo Zegna alla Zegna Forest” (From Ermenegildo Zegna’s woods to Zegna Forest).
Business and territory, territory and business. Contemporary issues and the future, with strong roots in the past.
Drawing on the philosophy of Ermenegildo Zegna, as ever, Casa Zegna is reopening on Sunday 7 June – in conditions of absolute safety – with a new version of its “From sheep to shop” exhibition: 110 years of history projecting into the future. And in the greenhouse space, the background exhibition entitled “Dai Boschi di Ermenegildo Zegna alla Zegna Forest” will focus on the relationship between Zegna and its territory and the latest developments in the woodland reclamation project that Ermenegildo Zegna launched in 1929.
“From sheep to shop” tells the story of Ermenegildo Zegna Group’s uniquely integrated production process. Spanning three generations, the exhibition is continually updated (in real time) by new installations and multimedia updates, from the historical fabric archives to the evolution of style, from the ‘70s to the present day, with its new collections of clothing and accessories embodying the defiantly contemporary.
Past and future are also themed into a background exhibition entitled “Dai Boschi di Ermenegildo Zegna alla Zegna Forest»: man and the territory, the mill and its people. In the year of Zegna 110th anniversary, Fondazione Zegna has launched a long-term project to revitalize Oasi Zegna’s woodland and thereby safeguard the environmental heritage created by the vision of its founder Ermenegildo Zegna.
This background exhibition is designed to raise visitors’ awareness of landscape issues by providing concrete examples and a local focus.
In recent decades, Italy has seen epochal changes reflecting the general trend across the planet. Best practice in the management of ecosystems can also be seen in the content curated by FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano, which documents the complexities of having to safeguard such a variegated and fragile habitat, a long-term commitment in which everyone will be called on to participate.
Ermenegildo Zegna’s “green philosophy”, now Oasi Zegna, has for over a century been a concrete example of protection and development of the landscape in a context in which business and society become part of the ecosystem.
