KALA GODA ASSOCIATION

Horniman Circle Garden

Kala Ghoda Association is an Indian organisation with the mission of upgrading the eponymous precinct, drawing attention to its beauty and history, and making it the Art District of Mumbai. Every year, since 1999, it has host the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, created to draw attention to this unique and beautiful area, calling thousands of visitors, not just from the city but from all over the country, and, indeed, the world. In 2008, Fondazione Zegna and Kala Ghoda Association launched a program to restore and develop the Horniman Circle Garden, which was designed in 1862 by the famous British architect Rienzi Walton and has survived as a public park attracting locals and tourists in one of the most crowded parts of “old” Mumbai. In addition to conservation work, Fondazione Zegna intends to make Horniman Circle Gardens not only a place of recreation but also an instrument of environmental education, especially for the new generations.
