MIMMO JODICE OAS I
Curated by Walter Guadagnini in collaboration with Barbara Bergaglio
Texts by Walter Guadagnini and Ilaria Bonacossa
This book of photographs is dedicated to Mimmo Jodice (Naples, 1934), an avant-garde photographer active from the ‘60s onward. A keen experimenter and explorer of photography’s expressive potential, he has been an untiring protagonist in cultural debate and has contributed significantly to the growth of Italian photography and its recognition at international level.
Produced in a collaborative effort by Fondazione Zegna and CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, the book presents a series of photographs taken by Mimmo Jodice inside and outside the Zegna wool mill (Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna) in Trivero (Biella province) and in the surrounding Oasi Zegna between the spring and winter of 2008.
In the 40 hitherto unpublished photographs in this volume we can see all the salient features of this great photographer’s poetics and in particular his capacity to transform places, buildings, objects and natural things into metaphysical apparitions suspended in time and space without sacrificing his subjects’ recognizability.
This book is the publisher’s 100th title.
