Rehabilitation of young people at San Patrignano has always been based, in part, on the recognition of the value of beauty and the pursuit of quality as an expression of their commitment. The project supported by Fondazione Zegna aims to help the textile workshop revive an ancient craft and at the same time train girls and render the trade contemporary in style and design.

The San Patrignano community was founded in the hills near Rimini in 1978 by Vincenzo Muccioli and a group of voluntary workers and became a point of reference in the struggle against drug abuse thanks to the commitment and passion of the Moratti family. Since then, it has hosted over 25,000 young people with substance abuse issues, offering them a home, a family and the chance to learn a trade or study for academic qualifications, all free of charge. over the years, some of the activities have grown into training courses, like the San Patrignano Design Lab, which in the early ‘80s became a craft center with workshops for carpentry, metal work, leather work, wallpaper and weaving.

The heddle loom is a device that expresses all the value added of rare manual skills and traditions. San Patrignano champions a made in italy culture of craft excellence that can be traced back though the centuries. Along with creativity, these indispensable values form the basis of San Patrignano’s professional training workshops for young people in need of a real future.
