Mattias Klum celebrates winter at Oasi Zegna

From 19th October to 23rd November 2014, every Sunday

In winter, nature at Oasi Zegna in Trivero (Biella) seems to stand still beneath a soft and white mantle of peaceful silence. At the exhibition entitled “Winter at Oasi Zegna: the photography of Mattias Klum”, the magic of the white season work is celebrated by the talented National Geographic photographer, who immortalizes the splendor of its snow-capped peaks, the force of the elements and the peacefulness of a landscape frozen under a candid blanket. In a third encounter with this globe-trotting reporter on the natural environment and landscapes, visitors can appreciate interaction between aesthetic pleasure and ethical commitment which Mattias Klum shows us, with his customary sensibility, through the medium of panoramic, aerial and macro photographs. This is a veritable tribute to the philosophy of Ermenegildo Zegna, who in the 1930s planted the seed that was to grow into Oasi Zegna, a wealth of panoramic views and unexpected visions. In winter too. “Our work represents the bonds between what people know in their minds and what they feel in their hearts,” clarifies Klum. “The future of our planet depends on our acceptance of responsibility and our capacity to change our patterns of conduct and live in harmony with nature and society”. So it’s an exhibition that also sends out a message: that we must respect and safeguard the beauty we are capable of admiring but sometimes underestimate. “We live in an impatient world that no longer understands the importance of time,” adds Fondazione Zegna president Anna Zegna. “Enjoying a panorama, in silence, listening to the sound of nature alone, is a marvelous way to re-appropriate this forgotten value”. The initiative addresses mainly the younger generations, for whom there are special workshops (free of charge) on 18 October, entitled “Winter landscape…of snowflakes”, organized by Associazione Re Mida.   INFORMATION Opening and free workshops for kids on Saturday 18 October, from 4 pm onwards. From 19 October to 23 November, open on Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm. Entry free. Casa Zegna – Via Marconi 23, Trivero (BI) T. 015.7591463 www.casazegna.org
