Italian values and standards of excellence in music – an art that speaks a universal language and lends itself to powerful messages of peace – need active promotion. This is the mission underlying Fondazione Zegna’s 3-year collaboration with Turin’s Teatro Regio, where the foundation is supporting the orchestra’s artistic development by helping to fund the hiring of the winner of its 1st viola competition.
Launched in 2012, the project is assisting a process of constant improvement at the Teatro Regio, a theater company which is enjoying worldwide renown and has become a formidable ambassador of italian excellence thanks to the efforts and passionate dedication of its music director Gianandrea Noseda.
The formula that enabled the theater to offer a position in its orchestra to Enrico Carraro, winner of the 1st viola competition, is common in the english-speaking world but completely new in italy.
